For those who give lectures and presentations, or even lazy couch potatoes who like controlling their computer from a distance, the Genius Ring Presenter may be a welcome addition to their arsenal. The ₱3,225 gadget is the world’s first “ring-style touch cursor controller”, as claimed by local distributor MSI-ECS.

A toggle on the side switches the device between off, “Mouse” and “Presenter” modes. As a mouse, users can move the mouse cursor around; left-, right- or middle-click; and hold a button to drag items around the screen. In its main mode, the Ring Presenter supports the following commands: Start Slideshow (equivalent to F5 on the keyboard), End Slideshow, Previous Slide, Next Slide.

The built-in laser pointer has an effective distance of 10 meters, and like the rest of the gadget is powered by a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery. Wireless control is possible through the 2.4GHz frequency (the same used in many wireless keyboards and mice). MSI-ECS also says that the ring assembly itself is made from elastic rubber.

Genius’ Ring Presenter comes in at least seven different colors, ranging from outright pink for the ladies, to minimalist all-black. We’re pretty sure that, with a little practice, master presenters will be free to gesture around while switching slides. It won’t turn anyone into Steve Jobs instantly, but for presenters who want to keep their gadget arsenal portable, the Ring Presenter is the next logical step.
