The best fake Canon Ad ever pays homage to instant noodles, sardines
A warning: Non-Filipinos should stay away. They might find the faithful recreation of the Ken Watanabe Canon EOS 7D ad a bit funny, but they’ll never get the masterful wordplay.
Canton: Delata na always
Taken from aling Pasyon on the credit level
Ken Wa-masabe
???Pancit Canton & Ligo
Also available in leading groceries nationwide
Ok fine, let’s try explaining this. Pancit “Canton”, is a cheap (and thus popular) instant noodle brand from Lucky Me in the Philippines. “De lata” is Spanish for “tin” and is colloquial for “canned goods”.
“Pasyon” represents the neighborhood sari-sari store proprietor; many buyers usually buy on credit. “Wa-masabe” is short for “Walang masabe”, which literally translates to “nothing to say”. And in case it’s not obvious, Ligo is a brand of Sardines, also cheap and popular.
Get it now? Laugh with me dear readers. And yes, we know this little piece of Photoshop magic came out last year. What we really want to know: Who’s responsible for this Canon-inspired faux ad? If you have the answer, hit the comments below.
