Buffalo CloudStation gets a price for the Philippines
Today, local distributor MSI-ECS announced that the Buffalo CloudStation is now available for the Philippine market. The promise for buyers: easy wireless access for up to 4TB of cloud storage for desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablet PCs.
Imagine connecting a high-capacity hard drive to your home wireless network, then accessing photos, videos, music, and other information stored on it on your laptop or PC without wires. And doing the same with your smartphone through 3G when you’re out.
Buffalo markets the CloudStation as a personal cloud and NAS (network-attached storage) solution that makes that scenario possible, with little hassle. All users have to do is plug in their new CloudStation to their router, then visit Buffalo’s website to complete the setup. The company says it all takes only 60 seconds.
The Buffalo CloudStation line-up
The CloudStation comes in two different variants and four capacities, at various price points:
| Variant | Capacity | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|

CloudStation CS-X | 1TB | ₱9,270 |
| 2TB | ₱11,160 | ||

CloudStation Pro Duo CS-WV/R1 | 2TB | ₱19,380 |
| 4TB | ₱23,250 |
Both the “basic” Cloudstation and its Pro Duo counterpart support Time Machine, so it can act as a central backup repository for Mac OS X PCs. The latter however also features a USB 2.0 port, and the two separate hard disks inside work in tandem as a RAID 1 array. USB provides a direct connection to a computer for faster management, while RAID allows faster transfer speeds, redundancy in case one of the disks fail, and even hot-swap capability that lets users install new disks without turning off the Cloudstation.
