Sony 98085 PlayStation 3 Wireless Stereo 7.1 headset reviewed
Local gamer Bim Barbieto reviews the latest wireless stereo headset for the PlayStation 3 (PS3). “If you’re a PS3 player, this is the best hardware purchase you’ll make under [₱4,400],” wrote the online multiplayer veteran.
Barbieto likes the headset’s ease of use, ergonomics, and comfort. The non-removable battery lasted long enough for even marathon gaming sessions. But what thoroughly impressed Bim was the surround sound quality of the device:
Let’s put it this way – I played a few games of Call of Duty: Black Ops and I did much better than I normally do. More often than not, I would hear someone to my left and I could gauge the distance but couldn’t tell if he’s coming from behind or my front.
I played a little InFamous 2 and the ambient noise was surreal! There were voices to my left in front of me, and to my right behind me. I can hear enemies complain that they don’t get paid enough to up against Cole and I could pinpoint exactly where they were so I could pick them off with a well-placed electric grenade.
The PS3 headset is such a good buy that according to Bim: “At ₱3,995, it’s already a steal. Buy it with cash and get it at ₱3,895 at iTech or ₱3,795 at Datablitz.” With a face like this…

…why should you doubt him? A minor drawback is that it’s easy to accidentally crank up the volume when “scratching your ear or adjusting the headset.” But take a look at the full review here (also the source for the images in this article) and you’ll see that Barbieto is quite satisfied with his purchase. Turns out the trouble he went through looking for a local retailer that had the headset in stock was worth it.
