Today Globe will launch Tattoo@Home, a home broadband service that features customizable plans. Choose a base DSL or WiMax plan, and get optional speed boost add-ons that provide an additional 1 Mbps of speed during certain times of the day.

Below is a complete list of Globe’s new Tattoo@Home plans. As you can see there are different add-ons that cater to different subscribers’ surfing habits, and they all boost the connection speed on demand.

If you’re still wondering how Mbps (megabits per second) translates into megabytes per second (MB/s), just divide the amount by 8. So a 3 Mbps Tattoo@Home plan promises download speeds of up to 0.375 MB/s, or 375 KB/s (kilobytes per second).

The speed boost add-ons do not carry a lock-in period, and can be canceled at any time. Globe tells me that its new home broadband customizable plans offer is permanent “and will be therefore available all year round.”

One more thing: the speed boost plans are already available for Tattoo@Home base WiMax plans, and will be available for DSL base plans by September 1, 2011. As always you can visit tattoo.globe.com.ph for more details.

I am tempted to try Globe! I see WiMax does not have lock in! How will they install it – put some wires too or parang satellite?

Glenn I’m not sure if WiMax doesn’t carry a lock-in. Naka-mention lang yung contract in the table up top with regards to the free WiFi router package. But yes, the WiMax is wireless. :)
