The gadgets of Karen Bordador
Last week I sat down with Karen Bordador, the model, host, and Flippish.com VJ. The Premiere Vixen and former Bayani (Fernando) Babe (along with former Gordon Girl Maxene Mamba) was kind enough to talk about her gadgets and tech lifestyle.
Karen endorses Xtrim GPS, a car navigation system that’s also useful walking around. “With it I never get lost; that was my problem before pa eh!” laughed Bordador, as she described how she’d use the device to aroung here in Manila and during frequent trips to Singapore.

The model also recently got an Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101, an Android Honeycomb tablet. Apparently she didn’t get the optional keyboard dock that turns the tablet into a notebook. “I got the Transformer assuming it could replace the laptop. Then I realized touchscreens aren’t really for me, and carrying the tablet in my shoulder bag made my neck hurt.”
As for her other gadgets, they’re not exactly state-of-the-art. Karen described her old Nokia E90 as “archaic”, but also finds it quite useful. “It’s pretty big, but it really helps me a lot. I save all of my messages, because I tend to forget things. I like the fact that it has a big screen, which lets me read messages as a whole. I’m not really into scrolling down kasi. I don’t even use much of the front, just the inside. The QWERTY [keyboard] I got used to it, it’s fun!”

Such “archaic”-ness also applies to Karen’s choice of laptop, an HP Pavilion she bought back in 2007 (“I like HP”). It’s probably even more useful than the E90. “Without the laptop, I’m kinda dead,” the model stressed. “Good thing it’s still alive! I use it for storing photos, videos, for email, and for writing. I write a lot!”

Rounding up the gadget arsenal is Karen’s iPod classic, and a Canon IXUS 850 IS.

Karen Bordador won’t win any my-phone-is-newer-than-yours contests any time soon, but consumer electronics are still quite indispensable for her. “Even if my gadgets aren’t the newest, I’m reliant on technology, the use of it at least. It doesn’t matter to me if there are lots of new products coming out, as long as I still get what I want out of what I have.”
