Murdered Filipina Still Exists on Facebook

The tragic tale of Mizzielle Jamyka Cruz Gutierrez: a 21-year-old kolehiyala stabbed to death, mere weeks from her graduation this March.

While police are looking for her boyfriend, the primary suspect, a part of “Myka” survives on Facebook. The popular social networking site still features Ms. Gutierrez’s profile—including the fact that she was in a relationship with a certain Christopher Von Moraleja.

The full story is available on GMA News. Facebook does have a form for the relatives and friends of the dearly departed. Once the social network “memorializes” a user profile, it only becomes accessible to the Facebook friends of that person as of the last login.

Dear readers, do you know anyone related to Ms. Gutierrez? I would like the mom of Myka to at least know what she can do for her daughter on Facebook.

Update: Seems Ms. Gutierrez’s family has taken over Myka’s Facebook page. The profile no longer lists Christopher Von Moraleja as the dearly departed’s significant other. See the profile page here.
