To paraphrase this Tumblr blogger: So, following the death of rock radio station NU 107, we’ve got at least one local act trying to go all K-Pop on us.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, 1:43! Below is their debut single, Merry Christmas Na. Do check out the dance moves!

Some inspirational quotes from the song

You and me, we’re pag-ibig
Para kang parol sa aking bubong
Every year nagsisimbang gabi, praying hard na may makatabi

Here’s the group pic. Are these guys Koreans or what? May we should create a new term—OKPM—for them?

For more of the goodness, check out 1:43 Facebook page here. “Thanks” for this Ade!

Nakakalungkot ang nangyayari sa OPM. :(

Despite the hilarity that ensued after 1:43 appeared on the scene–Pinoy OPM copying international musicians is an old and thorny issue. This would include copying not only the way they sing or how they dress, but also their ideas. I believe that people can copy stuff but should add something new to the mix to make it fresh and (almost) original.

In 1:43′s case not only was it unoriginal but also a slap in the face of Pinoys with their trying-hard-to-speak-in-English-as-Koreans-with-some-sprinkles-of-Tagalog shtick.

    I think their 15 minutes are up…
