iPad First Impressions
So I finally got to try out the iPad, Apple’s Tablet PC. It’s easy to see why the hype surrounding the gadget is pretty significant.

First, to those who think the iPad (I tested the Wi-Fi only version) is an oversized iPod touch, you’re absolutely right. The functionality and feature set is more or less the same. Right down to the placement of the earphone jack, lock key, and volume rocker.

However, the iPad is smaller than you (or at least I) thought. The bigger screen shows off Apple’s expertise in digital displays, through brilliant colors and overall clarity. Reading Thor through the Marvel app installed by the owner made it clear that the iPad is great as an eReader.

In short, while the iPad can’t fit into a pocket like the iPod touch or iPhone, some users will think the generously-sized display makes up for this. Personally I don’t, but after a half-hour with the iPad it’s easy to see its appeal.
