The Gadgets of TJ Manotoc
Before a flight back to Manila, with both of us fresh from Nokia Showcase 2010, I pestered TJ Manotoc about his gadget repertoire.
The Mornings @ ANC “sportscaster” also covers UAAP games, and hopes to resurrect his currently defunct blog. It’s easy to see that Manotoc’s into technology, based on the gadgets he currently uses:
- iPhone 3GS – For listening to music as well
- Blackberry Curve 8520 – Work phone, used to receive emails
- Flip Ultra HD 8GB – To capture interviews
- Macbook Pro (15″, 2.66 GHz Unibody, with the hard disk upgraded to 500GB) – For research
- Canon G9
In fact, TJ characterized himself as a “geek in denial” over the last couple of years, and considers his gadgets crucial to his work and personal lifestyles. Not mentioned in the list above are Manotoc’s Philips electric shaver, and the fact that he’s owned/played on the Wii, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3 (which helped him become a fan of Uncharted 2).
TJ somewhat regrets his Macbook Pro purchase, as ABS-CBN recently handed out the same model to 40 of its reporters. He totally loves the Flip Ultra, specifically how it automatically downgrades videos before uploading them to YouTube.
While TJ calls himself a geek, it’s clear that he doesn’t fit the stereotype. As a hyper-articulate personality who keeps up-to-date on a wide variety of topics, Mr. Manotoc is definitely different from introverts who write about the gadgets of notable personalities.
