Technology Captures Ramon Revilla Fighting the Filipino Satan
In 1983, when I wasn’t even aware of the world, Ramon Revilla starred in Lumaban ka, Satanas. Translated into English as The Killing of Satan, the film is so bad it’s good, and we get to watch parts of it on YouTube!
Some things I’ve learned:
- When Filipinos are translated into English, they’re given built-in megaphones
- Satan looks like Dracula
- Angels are young kids with curly hair
- Running towards a boulder isn’t really a good thing to do
- Getting crushed by a boulder doesn’t kill you instantly, if your head remained unharmed
- Willpower battles involve making funny faces
- Wind is a great excuse to show panties
- Lando San Miguel is the ultimate, manly pinoy name
One last thing: if you want this cinema masterpiece for the home theater, Amazon has the DVD in stock! (US delivery only unfortunately, so those based in the Philippines should ask help from an emigrant friend)
Thanks Marc!
