Yahoo Reveals Most Popular Online Items for 2009

The search engine recently set up a “Year in Review” website that lists what was most popular online for specific countries in 2009—including the Philippines. Yahoo’s top searches, new stories, celebrities, questions, and pictures of 2009 follow.

2009 Top 10 Searches

1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Cory Aquino
3. Francis Magalona
4. Ondoy
5. Dionisia Pacquiao
6. Shalani Soledad
7. Eraserheads
8. UAAP (University Atheletic Association of the Philippines)
9. Mar and Korina
10. PBA (Philippine Basketball Association)

So it’s sports, death, natural disasters, and significant others that interested Pinoys the most last year.

4. Typhoon Ondoy

Seems similar to the first list, save for the addition of MJ’s death, Ted Failon, and Ruffa.

Has anyone realized that the first six items of the top celebrities list are all fair-skinned women? Colonial mentality is apparently still alive at this day and age, at least when it comes to our celebrities.
