Asus O!Play HDP-R1: What’s in the Box
By Rico, 7:07 am Fri Jan 29 2010 - Featured, Rundowns - What Do You Think?
Here’s what comes with each Asus O!Play HDP-R1, a device designed to plug into a TV or display, and play digital content stored on a connected hard drive or flash disk.
Yes, this device has no internal storage, something I’m sure will limit the HDP-R1’s appeal, if it weren’t for its sub-$100 price online (will get a local price ASAP, stay tuned). Here’s what comes with each HDP-R1:
- The player
- Remote with batteries
- Composite A/V cable
- AC adapter
- Quick start guide
- CD (user manual)
Pictures of the gadget follow (click on a thumbnail to see the full picture):
So how does the HDP-R1 connect to a TV, and what kind of devices does it pull content from? At the back of the unit are ports for a component (red, white, yellow), HDMI, S/PDIF, ethernet, and the power cord. On the side are the eSata and USB 2.0 ports. In other words, the HDP-R1 can work with practically any TV on the market today, and can show movies, music, and pictures stored on external hard disks and flash drives.
Stay tuned for a full review!
