TESDA Website Hacked! (NSFW)

The website of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (tesda.gov.ph) has been defaced. Screenshots and a possible reason behind the hacking follow.

Apparently, the hacker had the bone to pick with authority figures over the death of a beautiful woman turned NPA fighter, Kemberly Jun Luna. Here’s what the text of the defaced TESDA website says:

Mga Abusadong Military, Mga Pulis na nagtatanim na ebidensya, Mga nagaabduct, Mga Hulidap, Las Piñas City Police , NAGA City Police, Lahat ng Police Station sa (Quezon City) UP Police, Pasay Police at madami pang iba (MAY MATITINO PA BA?)

ETO KAYO

So it seems this was motivated by anger right? Personally though, I’m not so sure. You see, 20 seconds after the hacked TESDA website loads, it automatically redirects the visitor to Smartmatic’s website. Smartmatic is the company responsible for automating the 2010 elections. Here’s the code that does it:

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="20; URL=http://www.smartmatic.com">
<meta name="keywords" content="Filipino, Pinoy Abroad, vip1.smartbro.net, Filipino Hackers, Pinoy Hackers, Pinoy Defacers"/>
<title>Terra</title>
<link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" href="http://static.youporn.com/images/favicon4.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
...

So, is this just an expression of outrage, or an attempt to weaken public confidence in the automated election process. It’s as if the hacker wanted to say “Jsee, I can hack a government website. What’s to stop me from hacking the 2010 elections?” That’s something easy for Juan dela Cruz to believe, even if securing a website and an automated election process involve different things—and require different methods to compromise security.

    Sa tingin ko mali yung sinabi na

    “Jsee, I can hack a government website. What’s to stop me from hacking the 2010 elections?”

    Warning yun dahil may invitation ng ventureslink dun sa hacked page…Yung mga ininvite ng ventureslink ang pwedeng mangHack na sa tingin ko warning ng hacker para pumili ng maayos na staffs para sa election.
