Team Noynoy Aquino: “NoyBook.com is a Fraud”
Update: Noybook has been taken down
Sighted on the official Noynoy Aquino Facebook page: “Please DO NOT join or vote in noybook.com. It is run by a Gibo supporter and is being used to gather a database of Noynoy fans and supporters… be careful about which sites you trust.”
Apparently to address concerns regarding the Election 2010 Facebook app (about transparency over how many voted for who for the mock online elections), noybook.com was set up. According to the site’s home page:
WHAT’S GREAT ABOUT NOYBOOK MOCK ELECTIONS?
December 14, 2009
The Mock Elections currently being performed here in Noybook is a clearer and better way to gauge not only the popularity of our Presidentiables but how much votes they could get out of the voting population.Need to Register. By requiring everyone to register, this is mimicking the actual process of Comelec Registration. Unlike in other websites, it’s not just as simple as “clicking” Yes or No. You have to exert more effort in registering which clearly differentiates mere interest versus actual voting preference.
One-Choice Policy. We’re only allowing each user to vote only 1 Presidentiable. Unlike in other websites, you don’t get to be a Fan of several candidates. In Noybook, there can only be 1.
E-mail Authentication. The e-mail authentication also screens out spammers and fictitious accounts. If a vote comes from a user with an e-mail that has yet to be authenticated, it is not reflected in our website.
On-Line. This means we can view the actual number of votes realtime. You get to see who’s voting which Presidentiable, and why!
Sounds good, but a quick check at the site’s WhoIs info shows that a certain King Del Rosario owns the noybook.com domain:

Search for kingdelrosario -at- gmail.com on Facebook (replace “-at-” with “@”), and you see the profile of King Del Rosario, with a large image on the side declaring “I’m supporting Gilbert Teodoro”! Del Rosario’s declaration of support was conducted through another Philippine election app on Facebook, named 2010 Philippine Presidential Election.
Now of course we’re all free to support whoever we want during the upcoming 2010 elections (though if you plan to vote for Erap, a convicted criminal with a proven record of corruption, you’re an idiot). But why would a declared supporter of presidential candidate Gibo Teodoro set up a supposedly neutral mock voting website, plaster it with a logo with glasses reminiscent of Noynoy Aquino’s, use yellow as its color scheme and call it noybook.com?
(Disclaimer: Noynoy Aquino is my choice for President, but I’m not involved with his volunteer team)
