Apple: Buy Stuff From Us for the Holidays!

Now that the Apple Store Philippines is over a year old, Apple’s marketers are on a full-court press to remind you of the various products available as gifts for friends, loved ones.
Take a look at the e-fliers below and you’ll see what I mean (click on the thumbnail to see the full-size version):
Should you buy gifts from Apple? While their products—especially their desktops and laptops—are pricey compared to competitors, and while I’m not really a fan of Apple’s exclusivity-oriented marketing, Apple’s customer service is more or less the best I’ve heard about locally. I’ve at least two anecdotes in memory, involving a reseller (Power Mac) agreeing to fix an older-generation Macbook Pro that was out of warranty for free, and a desktop repair that took less than a week.
In any case, your options are either buying from the numerous Authorized Apple Resellers in the country (like Power MAC), reputable companies with access to Apple stock like Ynzal, or even the online store. The latter currently features “Fast, free shipping on orders over ₱3,000″. On top of that (as far as I know) only the online store offers engraving for iPods. Just be aware that engraved products aren’t covered by Apple’s official return policy—for obvious reasons.
So, are any of you buying an Apple product for Christmas, for yourself or for a loved one? Do share below!

Please do not believe their claim of “fast shipping” because I just ordered a Nano last Saturday and it shipped only yesterday from Singapore and is now in HK. They admitted the delay only yesterday. I honestly do not know when it will reach me.

Errr, why does it have to pass through HK?

I don’t know. I thought when PH had their own online store the product would be sourced within the country but that doesn’t seem to be the case. It originates from Singapore, then goes to HK for sorting. It’s still there.

It was a rhetorical question. Pero like you, I was hoping the Apple Store Philippines would maintain stocks here, and was shocked when I found out they were pulling stuff from Singapore. I really don’t understand why it can’t be shipped directly from SG.
