Pinoy Builds Computer in 10 Min, Wins Hardware and Cash from Asus
Karl Lobete of Letran, you’re my man! Just how did you build a computer in 9:57, when it took me all day just to put this acrylic Asus PC case together? Asus is happy to use your victory to pimp its products, as the following PR and pics show.
Asus Xtreme Dominator Hails from Letran
It took only 9 minutes and fifty-seven seconds for Karl Lobete of Letran to build his PC at the ASUS Xtreme Domination: The Quest for the Fastest PC Builder Finals held last November 14 at the SM Manila Cyberzone. Lobete beat nine other finalists from Mapua, De La Salle University, DLSU-College of Saint Benilde and University of the East.
Lobete was able to take home Php10,000 pesos in cash, the new ASUS Maximus III Formula motherboard, Intel Core i5 processor plus one whole computer set for Letran Student Council. Mark Lupango of UE with the time of 13:57 won Php5,000 plus an ASUS P5QPL-AM motherboard as the second place winner while Lawrence Sayas of Mapua bagged Php3,000 and an ASUS EN9500GT Magic Graphics Card for finishing third at 14:08.
The finalists showed off their PC building skills using top hardware from ASUS, Intel, Western Digital and using Windows 7 OS.
Aside from the competition, participants and the audience were able to jam with up and coming bands Paramita and Stone Free. Game lovers also took the new ASUS P55 Maximus III Formula, P7P55D Deluxe and Sabertooth55i motherboards and new ASUS EAH5800 series graphics cards for a test run on their favorite games at the ASUS experience zones. PC enthusiasts checked out new motherboard, graphic card, LCD monitor and router offerings from the computer giant.
