URGENT: Nokia Institutes Free Charger Replacement Program
Nokia recently discovered that some chargers manufactured by one of the company’s third-party suppliers are flawed, and require replacement as soon as possible to minimize the electrical shock risk caused by the flaw.
What’s the Flaw?
According to the press release: “The plastic covers of the affected chargers could come loose and separate, exposing the charger’s internal components and potentially posing an electrical shock hazard if certain internal components are touched while the charger is plugged into a live socket.”
Which Chargers are Affected?
- AC-3E and AC-3U models, manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009
- AC-4U model, manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009
To confirm if your charger is affected, visit this page as soon as possible. You can also text a message with the following format: “charger model, manufacturer name, 26 digit charger serial number” to 0905-3224923 (for Globe subscribers), 0920-2678978 (for Smart subscribers) or 0922-8589360 (for Sun subscribers).
Once you’ve determined that your charger is affected, contact Nokia through the numbers listed above as soon as possible. Replacement is free of charge, and Nokia will even send someone to pick the battery up from you and return it. In other words, there’s really no excuse not to have your charger, if faulty, replaced.
