Text Your Way out of Corrupt Traffic Enforcers’ Hands

Do you regularly drive a car and use a cell phone? Here’s some very useful piece of advice, if you find yourself dealing with traffic enforcers who insist that your auto registration has expired, even if you’ve presented papers that are in order.
What: You can text LTO VEHICLE XXX000 to 2600 if you need up-to-date info on your car’s registration.
Example: LTO VEHICLE ZFH185.
What You Get: You get a message detailing the plate number, make, model, year, color, last date of registration, and LTO status of the vehicle you’re inquiring. This can prove to the enforcer that, yes, your registration is in order.
How Much: The service costs P2.50 or P2, depending on your network.
The complete message advising this is below. It came, from of all people, my mom:
You’ll never know when this will come in handy. Try to place this on your cellphone note or directory and pass it on to the kids…could be very useful. I tried this and it works- Lito Villarama
A friend of mine who workswith the LTO Office informed me about their new verification system for any Car Plate Nos whether they are used in old or brand new cars.
This is information about the REGISTRATION of any of your vehicles, whether it is filed genuinely at any LTO Office or not. There are CHECKPOINTS nowadays and some unscrupulous policemen will tell you that your CAR REGISTRATION is not duly registered even if you show the OFFICIAL RECEIPT-LTO CAR REGISTRATION. The policeman will tell you that it is either tampered or fake and you have no choice but to give the policeman bribe money.
On your cellphone text this message:
LTOspaceVEHICLEspac eXXX000
XXX000 stands for your vehicle’s PLATE NUMBER ( Philippines )
i.e. LTO VEHICLE ZFH185
SEND to 2600 and wait for Auto generated reply then save to your phone.
(An amount of P2.50 or P2.00 will be charged when you send to 2600)
A reply message from 2600 will inform you the following about the plate no.:Car Plate:
Model:
Year:
Color:
Date of Last Registered:
LTO Apprehension: if any
LTO Alarm: if anyIf there is a problem in CHECKPOINTS, just show this text message to the police officer in charge.
This text message from 2600 is also very important when buying an old and very cheap used car.
This will also be useful when you are following a car with a doubtful car plate no.
And lastly, when you register your car at any LTO Office try to check this out whether your car is genuinely registered or a tampered or fake OR was issued to you by an unscrupulous LTO employee or fixer.

Hi Rico, I tried it and it returned “No record found.”!! Is this because it’s a brand new car? Just bought it last July…
