paypalYou read the title right, our very own currency is now available in PayPal.

phpI think it’s really good to have Philippine Peso currency in PayPal.  Local merchants that does transaction in Philippine Peso will really benefit from this.  There’s no more need to convert USD to Philippine Peso or vise versa.

In spite of that, PayPal still follows their own Foreign Exchange (FOREX) rates which is usually lower than what’s that going market exchange rate.

“The introduction of the Philippine Peso will make domestic ecommerce easier and more convenient for buyers and sellers in the Philippines and is well timed for the holiday season!”

From a PayPal press release.

I already added Philippine Peso currency in my PayPal account.  I hope they’ll add the ability to fund your PayPal account from local banks real soon because it’s one of the problems we have here in the Philippines.  Having the ability to fund your account directly from your bank account will cause more users to use PayPal.

How do I make my currency in Peso? :)

  • Schmuck

My Account > Profile > Currency Balances (from Financial Information)

From Manage Currencies screen, select PHP from drop down list and press ADD NEW CURRENCY button.

Screen will refresh and the PHP currency is added in currency list.

Select the PHP currency from the list and click on the MAKE PRIMARY button.

    You’re good to go.
