Prices for Windows 7 in the Philippines

Acenet

Thanks to JM Galvez, I was able to get prices for Windows 7 in the Philippines. I called up Acenet, a computer store in Greenhills, and here are the figures they gave me.

Version Price
Home Basic P4,800
Home Premium P6,800
Professional P8,000
Ultimate P10,000

According to the saleslady I talked to, the store didn’t have stock of Windows 7 yet. Unfortunately she couldn’t give definite info regarding availability—possibly because she thought I was working for a competing store and hung up the phone! Here’s the address and contact info for Acenet:

ACENET, INCORPORATED
(ACENET, INC.)

3/F Shoppesville Plus, Greenhills Shopping Center Ortigas Avenue Greenhills Shopping Center San Juan Metro Manila
Phone: +63(2)7250254

RSUN Online

Just after I finished the first version of this article, RSUN Online answered my queries and sent in the following prices:

Version Price
Home Basic 5,200
Home Premium P6,500
Professional (not given)
Ultimate P11,700

Note that, according to the quotation I received, a 12% VAT applies. Even if final prices are more expensive than Acenet’s, I can apparently already order Windows 7 through RSUN! Here are contact details for RSUN:

    @Sarah

    Do you know the pricing of TCA? And what are available there: OEMs or full versions or both?

    Thanks.

    It seems that the pricing Rico got are indeed going to be OEMs, because according to this promo of MS, just the Home Basic would cost P7777 (and SRP is 8000):

    I can only imagine how much the higher versions would be (that’s why piracy of Windows OSs is so rampant here: MS doesn’t adjust their pricing to the fact that Philippines is still a developing/3rd world country.

    @jpbl1976

    I also have MSDN subscription. Pwede ba natin gamitin yung Windows 7 as primary OS? I thought for development/testing purposes lang. The moment na gamitin mo sa iba, like browsing, violate na ang EULA. Tama ba? o paranoid lang?

    Plano ko rin kas bumili ng Windows 7, pero baka makatipid e, hehehe.

    I still can’t believe it’s way cheaper there in the Phils compared to here in Singapore. Thanks for the prices! Will look them up when we get home!

    Its overpriced. A home premium is just $60 after rebates. Even if it was imported it’s way too much.
