Wynne Arboleda Scandal Caught on Tape

You probably know by now that, last October 16 during a PBA game against Smart Gilas, Wynne Arboleda of the Burger King Whoppers attacked Alain Katigbac, a heckling fan with a front-row ticket. In case you haven’t seen the incident unfold, check out this online video.

Wynne-Arboleda-vs-Alain-KatigbacAvailable on the internet thanks to the magic of online video! The PBA has suspended Arboleda for the rest of the season without pay, but now Katigbac wants the player banned for life. Aside from the numerous videos and news reports detailing the incident available on the web, there’s also an online petition asking Burger King to divert Arboleda’s salary to Typhoon victims.

Arboleda should have never rushed into the stands to beat up a fan (and his two flagrant fouls committed during the game are definitely uncalled for), but I wonder why Katgibac curled up into a ball as Arboleda tried punching him? He definitely can’t claim the moral higher ground, since he was the one who ticked Arboleda off, right? If you’re going to heckle someone, be prepared to back up your words!

I want to see Katigbac heckle a poor lowly defenseless jolog then back up his words. I bet he’ll see his cred skyrocket.

Lost in all the brouhaha is the fact that Alain Katigbak has no moral authority to even mention that he’s from Ateneo — a fact that’s in nearly all accounts of the incident.

His act of heckling is not an act fit for a “man for others” so the fact that he’s asking Ateneo alums for support (or accepting any) in depriving Arboleda of his livelihood for retaliating for Katigbak’s ridiculous behavior is insane.

There is such a thing as personal responsibility. Just because you pay for a ticket doesn’t give you the right to treat someone as less than human.

Alain, if you read this, do the right thing and give back your ADMU diploma. You’re a disgrace to the principles that they preach at the Loyola campus.

You know what, Alain? Not only should you give back your diploma but you should also pay your parents back for the money they spent educating you because it apparently didn’t stick.

You don’t deserve the Ateneo community’s pity or support. And if the Ateneo community thinks you deserve our support — heck, I’ll give back MY diploma.

Seriously people should know that if you kick a dog in the ribs, it’s going to bite you. Don’t act surprised if it does.
