Jeepney Drift Videos (AKA “Patok”, “Palo”, “Paluan”)

Like “thegreatest” (who sent this in), I feel so behind the times. Apparently, more than a year ago, videos capturing Jeepney’s drifting were uploaded to YouTube. Here are some videos featuring the so-called palo or patok.

Can anyone confirm if this is still going on, and where?

Update: According to rumors flying around in Plurk:

yung mga jeep na yan, like General, Jumong(the jeepney in paluan sa san juan) Tungaw at Carpenters(paluan sa parang), mga legends na dito sa marikina and antipolo yan. malulupit parin sila sometimes na nga lang. ngayon mas marami na sila. lalo na sa Cogeo, Montalban at Antipolo areas. kahit saan ka makakakita nyan. marcos highway or aurora blvd. man.

actually most of the passengers in that jeepneys like it. that’s why they ride those kind of jeepneys.

mga patok sa marikina ang talamak sa paluan, ang antipolo hindi gaano… ilang bese ko na nakita ang general sa marcos highway pero hndi nman sya pumapalo kapag nkikita ko. ANg mga patok naman sa montalban na sinasakyan ko pauwi, hindi n rin sila pumapalo hanggang mabilis na patakbo lang sila na may konting banking, pero pag nasa Paliparan at Tuazon sa marikina, medyo pumapalo rin minsan lalo na kpag madaling araw
