Globe Roaming Rates in Japan
We all know roaming is an expensive proposition, but in a first-world high cost-of-living country like Japan, the costs are staggering. Rates for texting and calling, inbound and outbound, follow.
Calling Globe’s customer service, I discovered that they’ve got to partners in Japan, SoftBank and the better-known NTT docomo. It’s not clear if I would be able to choose which partner to roam under, as my trip to Japan didn’t push through, but from the rates below, it seems NTT Docomo is the more affordable option.
|Calls to the Philippines||P68||P43||per minute|
|Calls to other countries||P112 + 0.40USD||P104 + 0.40 USD|
|Calls from the Philippines||P68 + 0.40USD||P43 + 0.40USD|
|Texts to the Philippines||P23||P19||per SMS|
|Texts to other countries||P25||P25|
|All incoming texts||Free|
Oh, the rates above are exclusive of VAT and a 15% “administrative charge”. They are current as of September 24, 2009, so feel free to leave updates below if you’ve got more updated info.
