Globe Roaming Rates in Japan

We all know roaming is an expensive proposition, but in a first-world high cost-of-living country like Japan, the costs are staggering. Rates for texting and calling, inbound and outbound, follow.

Calling Globe’s customer service, I discovered that they’ve got to partners in Japan, SoftBank and the better-known NTT docomo. It’s not clear if I would be able to choose which partner to roam under, as my trip to Japan didn’t push through, but from the rates below, it seems NTT Docomo is the more affordable option.

Calls from the Philippines	P68 + 0.40USD	P43 + 0.40USD

All incoming texts	Free

Oh, the rates above are exclusive of VAT and a 15% “administrative charge”. They are current as of September 24, 2009, so feel free to leave updates below if you’ve got more updated info.

Hi, I am now in Japan, and I have globe roaming. SIgnal is ok, but I cannot send texts nor make calls. Incoming texts / calls are OK tho. Im wondering if this problem is experienced by other people in japan? Ive used my cellphone in other countries and both inbound and outbound were working (Smart, i had to switch to globe bec. there is no smart roaming in japan)

mine is the other way around, I can send text, but can’t seem to recieve text, what is wrong! is there still no smart in Japan? I heard it’s more reliable?

When making outgoing calls from Japan to another country, please follow this format:
001010 + 63 + Area Code + Telephone No)

i am in　japan. i loaded　500 in globe in philippines then i sent text in philippines 3 times then i cannot text anymore after that.
