Avatar: The Movie I Want to See
Not the movie adaption of Avatar: The Last Airbender mind you, but James Cameron’s upcoming sci-fi flick. Here’s what the movie promises, and why I’m looking forward to the December 18 premiere.
The premise is that some guy (played by Terminator’s Sam Worthington) explores an alien planet. The catch is that our protagonist is wheelchair bound, so he’ll have to link up with a cloned alien body to make the trip. The name of these tools of humanity? Avatars.
From the trailer, it seems that most of the movie will get the CGI treatment. The animation looks smooth and realistic enough that Cameron may be able to pull of his artificially-generated cinematic vision.
I was unable to attend the special media preview last Monday, which showcased 16 minutes of scenes from the movie. Yet hearing all the positive first impressions online excited me only more. I just hope the movie’s combination of non-cartoon nature and heavy reliance on CG will fly. Anyone remember Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within?
