Update: Now that Windows 7 is available, check out our article on Windows 7 prices in the Philippines
There are no definite figures yet for the local consumer, but we can derive some speculation from Microsoft’s Windows 7 pricing announcement, made yesterday. Details follow.
Here’s how much various editions of Windows 7 will cost, when it makes its debut this October:
- Home Premium $199.99
- Professional $299.99
- Ultimate $319.99
So can we assume prices of P10000, P15000, and P17500 respectively? (Ouch!) Your guess is as good as mine, so stay tuned for updates as they become available! Here’s to hoping Microsoft Philippines will come out with more local-friendly prices.

if its that high, I’ll just wait for my Windows 7 RC license to expire and move back to linux. Hopefully the next Ubuntu LTS will be great!

Noel: Linux has to, unfortunately, overcome its rep as an OS only the techies can get to work.
Jayvee: IKR! Too bad that, as Ver says, it’s not available here.
Ver: Yun nga eh, Windows 7 should cost that much here. Not just for pre-orders or for upgrades only, but as retail!
