First Android Phone to Hit Philippines Through Smart

By the end of this month, Smart has promised that the HTC Magic will be available to Smart Gold customers, under as-yet-unannounced pricing. This makes the Magic the first of its kind locally, as it runs on Android, the mobile operating system created and promoted by Google.
The Magic supports for HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, and miniUSB. The 3.2″ touchscreen allows handwriting recognition, while a microSD slot should let future owners boost the phone’s memory from 192MB to gigabytes’ worth. A 3.15 megapixel camera with autofocus rounds up the feature set.
Based on my impressions, local HTC customers are usually more affluent than your average Juan dela Cruz. Not a surprise, considering many of their models cost above P30,000 when first released. Like the Touch Diamond. So how much will the Magic cost, and what kind of reception will it experience in the Philippines? Updates to come as they become available.
Thanks Blogie!
