Reader Marco shared the very painful story of his stolen Macbook Pro:

My friend had his car broken into by thieves last night. He was parked in the parking lot beside Podium in Ortigas.

We placed our things inside the trunk. When we came back a few hours later everything was gone which included his Macbook Air and my Macbook Pro (both only a few days old).

The windows were not broken—apparently they were able to mess with the car’s lock.

Here are the items that were stolen:

1.6 Macbook Air Intel Chipset
Serial No: YD9011AZY51

2.4Ghz Unibody Macbook Pro
Serial No: W88522KH1G0

Dell XPS M1210
Serial No: GS9LM1S

Please contact the authorities if you may have bought or found any of the items either online or offline. You may also call this number: 09184866586. We will be giving a cash reward to anyone who can give us useful information in tracking these items.

Dear readers, watch out for these items! If you’re buying a second-hand Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, or Dell XPS M1210 (all pictured above), take the time to find out the unit’s serial number. Who knows? You may be trying to buy fenced goods.

and when someone does buy these items and get caught later on, he or she’ll be jailed. that’s what happened to my friend’s cousin.

My car also got broken into at that same parking lot last January 2008. I lost an iBook, 2 iPods, and alot of cash.

Somebody should really sue Podium authorities. This is no longer an isolated incident as this has occured quite a number of times in that same parking lot.

my friend’s cousin didn’t know he bought a stolen laptop. it was traced later to him and got arrested for possession of a stolen device. he claimed no knowledge of it but still got jailed

Grabe naman! In this case, I think Marc will not hold the seller accountable, so I guess he’s relatively safe? How much time did your cousin do?
