Getting Rid of Those Filipina Mail-Order Bride Ads

Irony: in an article about Noemi Dado’s crusade to “clean up” the Filipina’s image online, you’ve got Google Ads advertising the following:

  • “1000’s of Philippine Girls Online Browse 1000’s of Photos. Join Free!”
  • “Foreign Men Seek Filipina Ladies For Friends And Dating. Join Free!”

I’ll be the first to admit Technograph has the same problem, given the website’s current dependency on Google Ads as well. Take a look at any of our Proof that Filipinas are Hot articles (here, here, here, and here) and you’ll see what I mean.

At least Google allows website publishers (like us) to keep certain websites from placing ads. But which websites should we filter out? Luckily, Filipina Images, another project of Noemi Dado’s, features a list on websites to exclude, and instructions on how to exclude them for AdSense publishers.

Take note though, not everyone may believe in Noemi’s campaign:

What an assumption you are making here by the claim that she will “marry someone she barely knows” when you obviously don’t even know our story. Is this what you think Filipino’s who find love online do? I had been to the Philippines on vacation three times before we got married and have been back twice since. We had spent many hours chatting on the phone and the Internet prior to even my first visit. I toured many parts of the Philippines with her including Cebu, Manila, Bohol and Mindanao to meet her family, friends and work collogues. I had stayed in the family home and got to know her parents, brothers and sisters long before we got married. We made a decision to get married and spend our lives together based on mutual understanding and the love that is between us, not “misplaced cravings”. Websites that allow the opportunity for these relationships to begin are not the enemy for people who are willing to give them a fair try.
