11th Philippine Web Awards Set for February 27

Proudly sporting a new look online (a template provided by domPH), it seems that the Philippine Web Awards are back on track, announcing a full-fledged awards night for this coming Friday:

The Awards Night of the 11th Philippine Web Awards (PWA) will not only showcase the Filipinos talent for high-tech online creativity, it will also be a celebration of Pinoy beauty and music.

Ana Theresa Licaros, Miss Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2007, will host the program that will be held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, Yuchengco Tower 2 of RCBC Plaza, on Friday, Feb. 27, starting at 7 p.m.

You’ve got personalities like Cookie Chua, Mike Villegas, and even Jet Pangan performing live, along with other people like Cacai Velasquez and Wency Cornejo. The scale of this year’s event, backed by many big sponsors, proves that the PWA still has drawing power—despite not giving out any awards for 2008 and the 10th PWA Plagiarism controversy.

But what kind of audience does it attract? All I know is that not everyone can afford to pay P1,000 for the privilege of attending the event. In any case, list of winners to follow next week!
