Feedback on Sun Broadband Wireless Found All Over the Net

If the folks over at Sun Cellular are ignoring this thread on philmug, they do so at their own risk. Since last year, users of Sun Broadband Wireless (SBW), Sun’s 3G service, have been posting speed figures from various locations.

Most of the recent posts discuss areas in Northern Manila (kbps figures are in download and upload speeds respectively):

  • edsailormoon: 722 kbps @ “eastwood mall”
  • mak_e: 2051/354 kbps @ “QC North area near the big malls”
  • balikpinoy: 1212/89kbps @ “Fort Global City”

You also have users complaining and threatening returns:

  • balikpinoy: “SBW has been down all day here in Fort area. This thing is going back to the sun shop for a complete refund.”
  • sabsar: “I subscribed to SBW a week ago. The connection has been fast until …. today. Was only online twice the whole day — a grand total of 10 minutes. How frustrating!!!”

Sun should consider itself really lucky. They get free feedback from their customers, as well as performance benchmarks during various times of days and at different locations. Not only in philmug, mind you. A thread on TipidPC also shares first-hand customer experiences.

Sun Cellular should also take note of local blogger Nino Carandang’s tips on how to get SBW to work properly with Macs. It’s freely-developed info like that—which was created to provide information Sun’s customer service apparently was unable to provide—that a company should build on.

What is your experience with Sun Broadband Wireless? How consistent has the service been for you?

Tama lahat kau… as in super hirap magpa-cut ng lines. itawag mo sa hotline, sabi nila OO. After sales, as in super duper POOR…

my experience with Sun 3G has been very good. i have also tested Globe 3G and it seems to be the same speed, although i only tested it for 1 day (hiram lang, hehe). we should not compare DSL with 3G, hindi apple-to-apple ang comparison, kasi isa wireless, isa wired. yung wireless parang cellphone, minsan humihina ang signal… altho again, my experience with Sun has been very good. i have bought and installed a router last weekend to the usb dongle and it’s working quite well. now everyone can share the same connection.

  • Sun Block!

Bulok na Sun. The first chance i get to buy a new one, i will make the switch.

Past couple of weeks has been hell, even Facebook takes eons to load. Sun, Ugh.

  • Baduy

I am also having bad experience with SUN. I subscribed to their 799 plan last March, but everytime I use their unlimited service, I just get stress.. There’s never a time that the connection was continuous. It’s always disconnected, reset or the signal disappears. There was already a site visit conducted, but it seems the problem isn’t solved. Sigh Sigh Sigh! I hope they could really do something about this. If they offer service, why don’t they offer their best..? right? I really hope they fix this problem…cos if not, I may unsubscribed sooner. … the service is so disappointing!

Palagi nalang tayong dehado. Pero “NO REACTION” sila.

napipilitan me bumili ng Php100 load para 3 days unli. kaso sa madaling araw mo lang talaga sya hanggang umaga magagamit kasi dun lang sya mabilis (or may medyo magandang response). from afternoon till 12AM mangungunsumi ka lang talaga at halos hindi mo magamit. consistent yun everyday.
