Pirated PlayStation 3 Games to Follow Soon?

On a recent trip to BF Ruins, informally known for its selection pirated movies, music, video games, and software, I saw some vendors selling “Blu-Ray movies”. Now I’m not sure if these were really pirated Blu-Ray discs, or actually DVDs copied from original Blu-Ray copies of a movie, but if the pirates have finally found a way to duplicate Blu-Ray discs at a low-cost, does this mean we could be seeing the popularity of the PlayStation 3 to grow here in the Philippines?

Think about it: if and when PlayStation 3 games—which run on Blue-Ray discs—are pirated, demand for the PlayStation 3 will definitely increase. Based on my own informal observations, the majority of gaming here in the Philippines is driven by piracy, as many people simply cannot afford the games they want to play. The original Sony PlayStation outsold the Nintendo 64 a few years back partly because it was easier to pirate PlayStation games, meaning they were available at a much lower cost to anyone who wanted to play some video games.

Well i live in kenya and a friend of mine has pirate PS3 Games, they come in almost original looking packaging, with booklets and everything, but they cost a fraction of the price, said he got them form malaysia. He said they retailed at KSH 2000 which is about 26 Dollars US. so i don’t know. Anyway he goes there like once a week or something so i’m gonna send him for one or too and see if they work, if they do then Hell yeah. P.s about the price of the PS3, i just got the new slim for 299 Dollars which i think is hella cheap, knew sony would drop the price eventually, its just what they do, when the tech first comes out its super expensive, but if your patient then 1 to 2 years later they drop the price by alot. Bought the Xbox360 to keep me busy while i waited and now i have both consoles, Now all i need is a Wii HAHAHAHA!!!

why dont they make the game cd cheaper in that way people wont pirate it anymore. for example theres 100,000 gamer. Only 500 of them are rich and can afford a 60$ cd. that nets a total of 30,000$. The other 99,500 are also avid gamers but because of personal reasons( living in a 3rd world country etc.) they can’t afford the game. Why don’t they make the game price only 1$. 1$ x 99,500 = 99,500$ thats 3 times the income compared to a very expensive cd wherein only a chosen few 500 can afford. More income for the publisher and more players. That makes everybody happy!

only the rich man can only buy all brand new 60$ ps3 games but if you are in a tight budget like me and dont want pirated and you are here in the philippines, visit pinoyps.com, so many 2nd hand ps3 games you can buy at only half 30$ less

Games are actually quite cheaper now! And I won’t blame developers/publishers if they can’t sell the games even more cheaper. Developing games for the current generation are so expensive good example is Matal Gear Solid 4 it cost them 80 million USD to develop that game alone, what about packaging/printing? mass production and distribution? I’m not rich but when I decided to get a console I made sure I can buy games at least once a month. I hate seeing people in other forums complaining about PS3 not having pirated games. In my opinion… If you can’t buy games then don’t get yourself into gaming its a luxury. That’s true! console manufacturer benefits from pirated games but what about game developers? Support them by buying orig games!

The console will die, if you pirate the game!. All the game developers, will abandoned the game console, if we pirate their games. Just like PS2, no more quality games, just a crappy games. So please don’t buy pirated DVD/Blu-Ray Games. Just look for a SALE or wait…

Piracy kill the console, game developers will abandoned the console and make some stupid games like in PS2, no more quality games. So if piracy will get here in the Philippines, i wont buy it, if your truly a gamer, u will support the original, and cmon guys game developers has bills to pay, family to feed and they need it to make more quality games.

I agree with bnaughty18. It’s sadden me to see many big developers, like Pandemic, went down.

in my opinion.how come some can buy a ps3 and not the game? dont buy ps3 if you can’t afford a ps3 game.. just for advice…

These developers earn enough on sales on 1st world countries. I’m sure in Japan alone they’re investments in developing games have been earned back in sales. What more if you add the US and Europe.
