Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Welcomed With Long Lines in the Philippines

Last Saturday was the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic launch sale, at the Nokia Store along Bonifacio High Street (the retail price was P19,990). Though I wasn’t able to attend it, I got plenty of info from some readers who claimed to be there, as well as pictures from Nokia Philippines (click on the thumbnails below to see full-size versions).

First-hand accounts from a couple of readers for those who continue.

sdnm:

I got mine yesterday from Bonifacio High Street. So many people in the morning, and I was already 200++ in the line so I just went back later that day.

Question lang to those who bought also, can you please check if your 5800 front cover is not snug also? I mean, when you check the right upper corner (the side near the shortcut menu), does it fit well? Last night when everything was dark, I noticed that I can see light from that side. I tried pushing down the cover but it still not snug.

I went back to Nokia, but they said it really is like that. (?) I’m not quite happy about it, I think it could be a welcome entry point for dust to get inside. Argh.

In general though, I’m satisfied with the 5800. Worth the wait

bren:

Hello again. I was also @Nokia Store – Bonifacio High Street last Sat. I got there at 10:30am and I was #158. So yes, I got my unit and the free ticket. The unit? Uber cool! Rico made a good review, indeed. The ticket? Maybe I’ll use it but then, maybe not.

side story: I got to talk to the guy who’s #3, he was there the night before! nice. heh.

anyway, to those who got the unit, which do you prefer: the stylus or the plectrum? :) i go for the plectrum.

So it’s true that when it comes to falling in line, those who really want to be one of the firsts need to be there a day or two before the actual day of event. Haha. Grabe, #3 was there night before, tsk tsk. Such a fanatic!

Lemme share: just like in the opening of Krispy Kreme Gateway where the 1st one who rings the cashier will get a 1 year supply of doughnuts, I was told that the winner who took home the 1 year supply was already there falling in line 3 days before the opening. I was so shocked. Haha.

I’m still triple thinking if I’ma buy the N5800. Haha. :D
