Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Pics

Nokia was finally kind enough to lend me a Nokia 5800 for some significant hands-on testing. You’ve already seen the phone in action, but this time around, I had enough time to snap the phone in greater detail. Continue to see Nokia’s first touch-driven gadget up close.

I got the confirmation email today from nokia-ph. I’ll claim my pre-ordered N5800 XM on Saturday for Php19,990. I’m glad I waited, it’s much cheaper than those selling on some multiply gadget stores *sheesh*

bren: Thanks for the info! Nokia also texted me, confirming the price at P19,990. So will you buy?

and it’s brand new with warranty! :D

Oh well, Nokia is giving a Sennheiser HD-205 headset tomorrow for the first 58 buyers, so it’s definitely cheaper if you take the sum :D Dapat pupunta din me bukas eh, kaso nag bago na isip ko waaaaaaaa!

I got mine yesterday from Bonifacio High Street. So many people in the morning, and I was already 200++ in the line so I just went back later that day.

Question lang to those who bought also, can you please check if your 5800 front cover is not snug also? I mean, when you check the right upper corner (the side near the shortcut menu), does it fit well? Last night when everything was dark, I noticed that I can see light from that side. I tried pushing down the cover but it still not snug.

I went back to Nokia, but they said it really is like that. (?) I’m not quite happy about it, I think it could be a welcome entry point for dust to get inside. Argh.

In general though, I’m satisfied with the 5800. Worth the wait. :)

Hello again. I was also @Nokia Store – Bonifacio High Street last Sat. I got there at 10:30am and I was #158. So yes, I got my unit and the free ticket. The unit? Uber cool! Rico made a good review, indeed. The ticket? Maybe I’ll use it but then, maybe not.

side story: I got to talk to the guy who’s #3, he was there the night before! nice. heh.

anyway, to those who got the unit, which do you prefer: the stylus or the plectrum? :) i go for the plectrum.

sdnm: Hmmm… I checked out the upper right portion of the review unit, and light does creep out in that area. But the front cover seemed pretty snug to me. Can you upload a picture of how your front cover looks? :)

bren: The plectrum. No need to pull it out, but still provides accurate touching. Note: don’t throw away your stylus, since it’s used to pushing your SIM card out!

Rico: I won’t. And Nokia was thoughtful enough to include an extra stylus in the box. The plectrum strap acts as a wrist strap as well. :)
