Octagon Computer’s Service Moot Point for Dell Owners: It’s All About Dell

So I brought my XPS—which no longer wanted to boot up—to Octagon for repairs. All the technician did was turn the unit on and express slight shock over the vertical rainbow lines he was seeing on my display. He then turned the laptop off, and declared that he’d have to forward it to the Dell service center for repairs (luckily, my warranty still applied).

I asked him where the service center was and how long repairs would take. Mr. Technician said it was somewhere in Ermita, and I’d have to wait for 14 business days. In short, it would all depend on the Dell service center—not Octagon—to provide satisfactory customer service regarding the repair of my crippled laptop.

Honestly, 2 weeks is a long time to wait. And I forgot to follow my regular weekly back-up schedule, meaning over three weeks worth of work (not to mention pictures I’ve uploaded during that time) may be lost. Ah well, lessons learned the hard way are lessons really learned. Check back later this month, when hopefully my laptop’s all fixed and ready to use again.

This was last January 3, and as of yesterday (fifteen business days later), I have yet to see the laptop. And yes, this has a lot to do with how Octagon and Dell handle repairs (contrary to what I’ve written before). [...]

When did you buy your XPS?
Here are some work around you can do.
    1. try to run diagnostics.
    * restart the unit and as soon as you see the dell splash screen keep on tapping F12 (atleast 4 times),(it will direct you to advance optons menu)
*On advance options menu use the down arrow key to highlight diagnostics and hit on enter.wait for it to finish and see if it will generate an error code usually it starts with 200- anyway you will hear an alarming sound.
*if vertical or horizontal lines are visible while running PSA/ diagnostics just reply to this email.
