Animosity for Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr. Spawns Online “Kick Me” Game

Wow. All it took was a blog post by Bambee dela Paz and five days to spawn a lot of online hatred for Nasser Pangandaman Jr. He’s the mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, the son of the current DAR chief, and accused of beating up Bambee’s dad Delfin and her 14-year-old brother Bino over golfing etiquette.

Much was said about how there are always two sides to the story, the problems of Muslim Mindanao, the arrogance of Philippine politicians, etc.

Honestly, that’s all old news. Sadly, multi-faceted controversy, political patronage, and contemptuous behavior are all cliche villainous behavior here in the Philippines. What is new about this, at least for me, is the kick Nasser game, made by pictogame.com user “aardwolf” (also available here):

So yes, people have expressed their disgust through words online before. But this is the first time I’ve seen someone actually take the time to edit Mayor Nasser’s picture, upload the image, and make a game out of it. A really complete rundown of reactions online here. Forget about Takipsilim (confirmed by readers as a hoax). This is the online issue for 2009—if people don’t forget about it immediately.
