Want a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic? You can order one now for P20,000, as announced during a media-only Nokia “Red” event held yesterday.

The 5800 became available for pre-order nearly a week ago. Units ordered beforehand would be available with Kjwan’s newest album, and tickets to an upcoming Hed Kandi event. But I openly wondered why Nokia wouldn’t reveal the pre-order price. Looks like Nokia wanted to reveal this bit of info with a bit of flair.

In any case, if you’re playing a wait-and-see game with the 5800, I’ve just emailed the folks at Nokia, asking how much the phone will cost when it officially comes out for retail, reportedly this January 23rd. Will update this article as soon as that info becomes available.

Now that we have a rough idea of the 5800′s price, what do you think?

(Update: Nokia got back to me. Apparently the P20,000 wasn’t the final price; the figure was “indicative… at current foreign exchange rates”. Also, “The pre-order price and the SRP once the phone will be in the stores should be the same.”)

Hi Rico. The Kjwan album entitled ’13 Seconds to Love’ is preloaded in ALL Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phones, not just those on the preorder list. =) Their album won’t be sold until 4 months after January. =)

I dont understand why they havent said the price when the phone in available barely 3 weeks away… I hope nokia phil doesnt get too greedy on this since nokia in Europe already stated that the base price of this phone is 285euros roughly Php19,000 pesos.

I just pre-ordered a unit and the price is PhP 19,900. Two representatives from Nokia also called me to verify my order and they said that the price is fixed (no additional charges whatsoever).

Ph 19,990 as two reps and the email and the sms they’ve sent me, bargaining to trafe my n95 8gb for that phone though.. lol..=)
