The HTC Touch Diamond Will Cost P41,000 in the Philippines. During the press launch held yesterday, we were given an up-close presentation of the vaunted TouchFLO 3D interface which supposedly lets users treat their information like physical objects:
Thanks to Lonson for showing us the ropes. Continue for more info on the HTC Touch Diamond.
As written above, the Touch Diamond will cost P41,000. This PDA Phone, which runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, is easily HTC’s new flagship, given it’s comprehensive feature set:
- GSM (900/1800/1900 Mhz) and HSDPA (900/2100 Mhz) capable
- 102 x 51 x 11.5mm (height by width by thickness), 110 grams heavy
- VGA (480 x 640 pixels) full-color display
- 4GB of user memory, 192MB RAM, 256MB ROM
- 528 Mhz Qualcomm MSM7201A processor
- 3.15 megapixel camera, secondary VGA camera for video calls
- GPS and FM radio, Windows Media Player
- Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi
- 900 mAh battery
Despite the 528Mhz processor (which is very powerful for Windows Mobile devices), the TouchFLO 3D interface was somewhat lacking in responsiveness. We’re also worried about the relatively low-capacity battery, as it may affect how long the Touch Diamond will last on a single charge. And while integrated 4GB of memory is pretty roomy, we’re wondering why there’s no card slot available.
Still, this is a pretty powerful phone on paper, with lots of specs to make any geek drool. We’ll try securing a review unit soon.

It looks nice but I think it’s way too pricey for an average Juan Dela Cruz’s budget. Methinks it’s cost of a laptop already.

Speaking of laptops, the Touch Diamond is definitely more expensive than the HP Mini-Note and Asus Eee PC.

UI not nearly as responsive as iPhone. You can see the strain in the user’s thumb. He’s trying to apply just the right amount of pressure. WinMo phones feel too much like smartphones, too technical. I prefer Symbian OS. Kung kailangan mo apps, maski ano, meron. Pero kung phone lang hanap mo atm, pwede rin.

Yep, this is the kind of pricing you’d expect in 2006 not today. FAIL.
