Astroplus’s Crazy DVD Promo

During a recent visit to the Mall of Asia branch of Astroplus, a local retailer of DVDs, VCDs, and other home entertainment products, we availed of the store’s 3-for-9 DVD promo.
In a nutshell, you buy 3 DVDs and get 6 more for free. That’s right: you only pay for 3 DVDs and get nine. The promo doesn’t extend to Astroplus’ entire DVD collection though, only to items with a sticker saying “Biggest Video Sale Buy 3 Take 6″ plastered on them. And there’s an obvious reason why Astroplus seems desperate to get rid of these DVDs.
You may have a hard time choosing between “classics” like I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, and some forgettable Chuck Norris action flick. Still, there are diamonds in the rough; we managed to score Escape From L.A., Anchorman, and Fun With Dick and Jane. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any local DVDs participating in this promo, with the collection limited mainly to western films.
With each participating DVD costing P299 each, you’ll be effectively paying just under P100 a DVD. Given the price, don’t expect the disks to come bundled with full-color booklets and audio commentaries. It’s just a DVD in a plastic case.
We’re not sure if this promo is available at the other branches of Astroplus, nor do we know how long this will last. Is this a regular thing, used by Astroplus to get rid of some inventory? Feel free to let us know by leaving a comment below though.
