Technograph recently sighted a Canon 450D in the Philippines. Check out the big screen (compared to the Canon 400D) below…

…and continue to see the top of the compact dSLR and some updated pricing info.

Thanks to reader Renwick for letting us play around with his new toy. Renwick told us he got his Canon 450D from Avenue shop in Hidalgo. After some intense haggling, he paid P37,000 for the following:
- The 450D
- 18-55mm Kit Lens
- Dust Filter
- 2GB Kingston SD memory card
Thanks to Ronan for taking the pictures above, ironically with a Nikon D40.

I expect a lot of P&S owners (especially Ixus and Powershot owners) might be tempted to buy this. I’m no expert, but I think part of the reason the Nikon D40, D60, and D80 are so popular is the fact that they use SD cards. This makes the switch from P&S to DSLR easier.
As for me (and I’m guessing most current DSLR users), I’m sticking with models that use CF cards. There’s no way I’m letting my new CF cards go to waste.

Oops! That link about the CF cards was supposed to go here.
Sorry!

You’re right. The switch to SD cards may ironically keep long-time compact dSLR users from buying this camera. But surely this model will bring in lots of newcomers!
