Palm Centro to Cost P17,490 in the Philippines

Now that local resellers have gotten a look at Palm’s newest smartphone, the gadget is set to become available to Filipino consumers by the 3rd week of April.
This according to a certain Gerald Senolos, who works for Microwarehouse Inc. Microwarehouse is a major distributor of Palm, Apple, and Linksys products. As of 2007, it pays for the domain and hosting costs of Mapalad, local Palm user group forum.
A few months ago, Technograph was able to try out the Centro. From our half-hour of use, it was clear that the Centro features longtime Palm vanguards like great personal organization software. Unfortunately, even though the Centro will be the cheapest Palm smartphone officially available in the Philippines, we doubt if it will make a significant impact outside of die-hard Palm fans.
In any case, we’re sure that gray market vendors will undercut the official SRP set by Microwarehouse and other distributors.

Thanks for the link. Hopefully, the carriers’ subsidy would help lower Palm Centro’s price here.

A subsidy is welcome. Unfortunately, as you know, they always carry contract lock-ins. Will you be buying this when it comes out?
