Local Tech Convention Set for October 2008

Mark your calendars for October 24-26, 2008, fellow geeks. According to the media kit we got our grubby hands on, the SMX Convention Center will host the first Consumer Electronics Live! Manila.

The event is apparently Summit Media’s attempt (they’re setting up everything through newly-formed vision Summit Live!) to maximize their widespread circulation and create what could be the CES of the Philippines. Thanks to locally popular magazines like FHM Philippines, Yes!, and T3, Summit Media is easily the leading magazine publisher in the Philippines.
The media kit sums up the event’s objectives nicely:
CEL Manila is the ideal venue for brand-building—a launching point for new and concept products with the pavilion-type display. This is supplemented by a retail and selling section to drive up sales and expand market share.
Here’s to hoping steep discounts are available come October 2008! Let’s see if Summit can come up with a game-changing consumer electronics convention.

In our opinion, most other tech events lack the large audience and the wow factor. Let’s see how Summit user publishing assets to promote this.
