Filipinos + Loud Music Technology = Rakrakan Na!!!
By Rico, 9:09 am Thu Apr 10 2008 - News - 1 Opinion
Ok, we’re once again skirting the edges of our promised topic, but has anyone realized that live music events have a lot to do with Technology in the Philippines?
First off, you’ve got people screaming into mikes, with their distorted voices blaring out of humongous speakers. Next, you’ve got guitarists and bassists relying on amplifiers. Sure, amps are based on late 1940s technology, but it’s still technology nonetheless.
And of course, the most important ingredient: Filipinos!
Filipino groups like Lose Your Beer Belly, Zoo, Tempestous (isn’t that Tempestuous?), and Sanity Kit using technology to perform at The Banana Gangbang Rock Festival! The event is set for May 3, at the Bela Bar in Greenhills. Interested parties need to bring P100, for the consumable entrance fee, and anyone with a poor sense of direction should check out the map. The Banana Gangbang Rak Festival is brought to you by The Man Blog, signifying exemplary online behavior since December 2005.
We doubt if we’ll be able to make it. But that’s ok, because we’re pretty sure some people will record the rakrakan with their camera phones. And if we happen to encounter any of you, bluetootan na!!!
Thanks to Ade Magnaye for threatening to burn our house down if we didn’t feature his event.
