KeepVid Allows Easy YouTube Downloads

We don’t know how long the website will last, but KeepVid makes downloading videos and other content from websites like YouTube and Imeem really easy. All users have to do is provide the URL of the content in question, and KeepVid generates a direct download link of the corresponding .flv file. It’s then a matter of waiting for the download to complete, renaming the file, and converting it to the required format.

KeepVid’s longevity may be decided soon, given that it makes it easy for users to copy copyrighted content.

Want to download the video directly to a more familiar format, without having to convert it?

KeepVid has been around for more than a year I think, so I don’t think it will go down anytime soon.

Rico S: We tried it out, and it’s indeed an even better service!

Eugene: Perhaps Rico’s find makes the point moot after all? Wouldn’t YouTube want to stop what KeepVid’s doing?

KeppVid.com has been there for quite some time already. Learned about it from my students last year :D

Looks like we should’ve featured ZamZar instead.

You can get YouTube videos, but I can’t seem to figure out how to get Imeem?

By the way, in order to convert them [flv files] if need be, just go to media-convert.com. Easy as pie.

Try this angela. Good luck! :)

You should really try Zamzar too, it converts files before making them available for download, for added convenience.

Looks like YouTube has been tracking down on these kinds of sites lately and KeepVid has been closed down.

As of yesterday, Zamzar’s still up! :)
