Bank Codes for PayPal Philippines

Whatever. I know the conversation I had with a certain UnionBank customer service agent.

I just learned this from a fellow blogger. Before she even viewed the list of codes, she followed her hunch that the 9 digit code in her cheque is the same 9 digit code PayPal is referring to. It turns out right for her. I think her bank is BPI. I haven’t tried this one yet since my other (checking) bank accounts are not in the list. I’ll try to check this on Monday and let you know.

Mike: It’s doubtful that an erring CSA would be representative of a whole company, or a whole industry for that matter. Nevertheless, I do agree that it’s the bank’s responsibility to keep its staff informed.
mEl: Thanks, if it’s true, that would be valuable information.

Hey Rico,
I tried asking my sister who has a BDO Acct and found out that only the first 5 digits are the same with the official listing given by PayPal. I tried looking at my Philam Cheque books (from 2 different branches – Makati and Alabang) and only the first five digits are the same. Then I found an RCBC cheque from PLDT, RT No. found in that cheque is the same as the one published by PayPal.
So what do you think?

Based on your info, I think it’s better to just ask your bank for the code. The list above is also a helpful reference.
Thanks Mel!
