MacBook Air: Forcing Local Apple Fans to Save Up Once Again

The so-called “Steve Jobs premium” is as certain as death and taxes, and it prices the new MacBook Air at $1799. Definitely out of the typical Filipino’s reach, as we project local prices to hover near Php 100,000. So even the weak dollar won’t help.

What’s the MacBook Air you ask? Only the thinnest full-size laptop we’ve seen (but not ever):

More details are available on the product page. We at Technograph think that the MacBook Air will appeal to those who are more about style than function (perhaps it will arrive in the Philippines later within the year, if not before July?). The Air actually represents a step back from high-end mobile performance, with a 1.6Ghz Core 2 Duo processor and an 80GB hard disk standard. Local Apple fans are advised to start tightening their belts once again.

Your belt is new, right? It’ll tighten up real good. Wehehe.

Like any reasonable customer, we’ll get our hands on a review unit ASAP before we’d even consider buying the Air. Though there’s nothing wrong with being prepared for the best?
