Reports of ATM Failures Coming In

atm-drawing.gifSince yesterday afternoon, Technograph has received reports about automatic teller machines being offline or not having enough cash to dispense, throughout Metro Manila. One user reported getting debited for Php 10,000.00, even as the ATM failed to provide any money.

The increased demand for ATM services is no doubt fueled by the need for more money to do some last-minute Christmas shopping, or to finance that out-of-town trip. ATM users are advised to take some precautionary measures, such as withdrawing a small amount first before withdrawing the entire amount, as a test.

Local banks will only be able to resolve any ATM-related issues on December 26, which is three days from today. Both customers and providers can learn from this: the former can be better prepared for next year’s holiday season, while the latter can do a better job of anticipating the increased demand.
