Got some last-minute Christmas shopping to do? Here’s a shortlist of gadgets that represent maximum bang for the buck (prices quoted are standard retail, and are current as of this writing):

1. Philips SHS390 (Php 700.00). Less than a thousand pesos, this pair of headphones features great audio quality and ergonomics. Also, it’s not that bulky.

2. Any Nokia phone under Php 2,000.00. These are usually part of the 1xxx and 2xxx model lines. While they can only usually text and call, they’re extremely responsive and their batteries last practically forever on a single charge.

3. 8GB iPod Nano (Php 9,999.00). No other portable media player can hold 8 GB of media (music, videos, and photos), be really small, and let its owner put on the smug air that characterizes Apple users—all for 10,000 pesos.

4. Nokia 5310 XpressMusic Phone (Php 13,000.00). The 5310 is less than a centimeter thick, does a great job of playing music, and stores up to 1GB of it. Oh yeah, it’s a phone too.

5. Asus Eee PC (Php 19,000.00). A really portable laptop that’s limited in functionality, but perfect for those who just need to work online and with business software.
