Over 40% of Internet surfers do so with monitors set at 1024 x 768 resolution, according to web analytics company Omniture. 1280 x 1024, usually the next higher available resolution on most computers, came in second with just over 13%, while 1280 x 800, which features a wide aspect ratio, scored third with around 11%.

As with the case of browser usage, the figures were compiled from statistics generated by Omniture’s clients, and may not provide a comprehensive picture of online usage in general.
