Nokia Philippines Launches the 5310 Xpress Music Phone With the Red & Black Party

Nokia Philippines spared no expense to market its new red-and-black 5310 Xpress Music phone, renting a Php 150,000/day convention center for the launch party held last Saturday.
“Eventologist” Tim Yap hosted the by-invitation event, held at A.Venue in Makati City. The first couple of hours were your average mixer, with both VIPs and the general public treated to free-flowing alcohol and attractive promotional models walking around with demo units as necklaces.
The crowd was a sea of red and black, as per Nokia’s instructions to wear clothes of the said colors. LCD TVs and projectors were all over, looping the mobile’s TVCs.

A few minutes after his introductory remarks, Tim Yap returned to the stage, pretended to hook up a unit directly to the sound system via an earphone jack, and proceeded to launch the actual party by “playing” some music on the audio-oriented smartphone.
The rear part of the venue was then opened to the visitors, through which the eager crowd entered. Beyond the suddenly-revealed entrance, guests were treated to the sight of a massive stage. The ensemble group Local:\\E began its performance in earnest, with DJs creating deafening yet groovy music and various singers warbling out melodies.

If Nokia wanted to convince the visitors that the 5310 was all about music, they did a pretty good job. Stay tuned for a full review of the smartphone.
